Michael was the oldest of three brothers - 1) MICHAEL, 2) Sholum and 3) Iudel David.

Michael and Feyge's children were (oldest to youngest):

1.  ABRAM - Birthdate unknown. In 1849 was listed as "poor, taxpayer "unable to pay." No other information available. 

2.  YITZCHAK (Ayzik) b. 1831 m. Ginda.  They lived in Raseinai. They were listed as "wealthy."  Continue below for children of Ayzik and Ginda.

3.  LEAH b. 1838 m. (?) and was widowed. In 1894 she married Khatsel Beniash, a widow, and they lived in Kaunas.  No additional details available.

4.  TANCHUM b. 1841 m. Yehudis (bat Hirsh and Hinde Berman;1853 (?)-1925). They lived in Rosseiaia. There is no record of his deathYehudis died in 1922 from marasmus (a protein deficiency) at the age of 84. Tanchum's is the branch that ultimately ended up in the USA (Pittsburgh), South Africa, Argentina, and Mexico. Continue below for the children of Tanchum and Yehudis Tanur.

Chaim Hillel ben ITZCHAK (Ayzik) m. Elka bat Meir Godleski(1859 - ?)  In 1906 they resided in Kaunas, Raseinai, district No. 2, house of Batshevich.  In 1911 they were homeowners and living on Shidlovskaya St. Their children were:

Beyla Dina applied for a passport in 1937.

Mikhel Meir m. Nesia (bat Yaakov Shuster) in 1928. They were living in Kaunas and in early 1930 had a daughter, Sarah. On Oct. 13, 1942, Michael Meir was sentenced to five years exile by the Soviets and imprisoned at Sevurallagas; Nesia and Sara were exiled by the Soviets to Kamen-Na-Obi and Altai Krai and their property was confiscated. Michael Meir was released Dec. 26, 1945 and returned to Lithuania. Nesia and Sarah escaped in 1947.  (Records of Soviet refugees show her name as "Nadia Tanur.") No further information available.

Devorah Eta died by 1906.

Rachel m. Mordechai Ginzburg. She applied for an internal passport in 19..

Feyga Riva, Gitel, or Aizik: No further information available.

Tsvi Hirsh married Tova Leah Meyers) bat Movsha (nee Meyers). The children who we know of from this marriage emigrated to the U.S.A. My grandmother Ida and my great aunt Sarah were their daughters. 

Tsvi Hirsch and Tova ("Taube")  lived on Nemokshtinskaya Street in Raseiniai. In 1922, when my grandmother Ida (Chana Henyia) Tanur filled out her request for a marriage license to Joseph Boris, Tsvi Hirsh was still alive but her mother was deceased. Tsvi Hirsch and Tova: DETAILS  (oldest to youngest):

? MOSHE: No known information.

CHANA HENIA: This is my grandmother, Ida, born in Raseiniai.  After she arrived in the U.S. at the age of 18 on July 12, 1910, through the port of Philadelphia, she went to live with her uncle Hyman (Yehoshua) Tanur, in Expedit, PA.  She stayed only a short while and went to live in Philadelphia (with her uncle Jacob Sporkin, and aunt Lena nee Meyers - sister of her mother) and applied to marry Joseph Boris (my grandfather) on June 28, 1912. They had three children (See "next gens".)  She died in Philadelphia, 1930, after childbirth and is buried in Mt. Lebanon Cemetary, Collingsdale, PA.

SARAH CHASIA (Sarah): (My aunt) Sarah arrived through Ellis Island in 1920. She went to live with her uncle Jacob Sporkin (whose wife, Leah nee Meyers, was mother's sister) on North Broad St., in Philadelphia.  Sarah m. Abe King (ben David King and Milly Singer). She lived in West Philadelphia (Hazel Ave., then South Salford St.) Sarah and Abe King settled in San Francisco, CA. Sarah died in -(?)

1) Ida (Chana Henia) (nee Tanur) and Joseph Boris had three children: Theona (Chana Tuba or Chana Tova), Jerome (Yaakov Moshe) and Betty.  2) Sarah m. Abe King. They had one daughter, Toby.

The next generations:  1) Theona m. George Salkowitz (d. 2009), and their son is Joseph (Joe).  2) Jerome m. Florence nee Buntman, and their children are Lynne, Jane (that's me) and Anthony (Tony). My father, Jerome, of blessed memory, died in November, 2017. 3) Betty (d. 2012. ma. and divorced; she has one daughter, Karen Winter-Lein.  Betty passed away in ....   2)  Tobey ( d. 1999) m. Jack Seidman.  Their daughter is Gail.

Tsvi Hirsch possibly remarried. Hirsch d. Dec. 12,1936 at the age of 72 of pneumonia, still in Lithuania. Their children were:

Hillel married Rachel ("Rollo") (daughter of Aaron and Feige Davidov), in Raseiniai. 

Hillel first emigrated to South Africa in 1897 and settled in Johannesburg.  He petitioned for naturalization in 1904.  HIs family, it seems, contined to reside in Raseiniai, as  Soma was born there. Later records indicated he made multple trips between SA and Lithuania. One such subsequent trip was on the Prinzessin arr. 20 June, 1907, departing Hamburg, arr. Antrwerpen, South Africa.   Soma, who was born in 1907, traveled from Hamburg to Antwerp in August, 1907.  Rachel ("Rahel") and Soma travelled to South Africa in 1909.

His Hebrew name, Hillel ben R. Tanchum, is recorded on his gravestone in the Chevra Kadisha, Johannasburg, South Africa.  Rachel: 1879 - 1921

Yehoshua ("Hessel" later Hyman) m. Rochel Rivka bat Akiva (nee Brit?. In Raseiniai, Lithuania, they had two children, Chaim and Shlomo. On May 31, 1902, the family arrived at Ellis Island, headed forAltoona, PA, where Soloman Britt, Rachel's brother, lived. Eventually they settled in Pittsburgh, PA. Hyman, living in Twin Rocks PA, was naturalized in 1910.

Ber m. Masha (Maraisha) bas Eliahu (b. 1871) in 1874.   The had a daughter, Ginda, born in 1893. They lived in Jubarkis. He anglecized his name to Bernard and Masha anglacized her name to Margaret. They emigrated to South Africa but we don't have any record of Ginda emigrating to SA. He emigrated possibly with Hillel.  Bernard and Margaret's children:

We believe that Tsadok was the 5th brother, although I have no documents (immigration, gravestones or otherwise) that show "Tsadok ben Tanchum".  

Tsadok m. Leah (nee Goldberg) in Lithuania.  As early as 1910 Tsodyk ("Codikas") was living in Raseiniai, at Dominikanskaya Street*; his occupation was recorded as "Real Estate Owner". In 1910 their children were listed as Rocha, Feiga, and Meir. In 1911 they were living on Senatorskaya St.  In 1926, Tsadok and Leah were living in Kaunas, at Ukmerges Str., 9*. Their son Meir Leib was drafted into the army (at the age of 22).  Tsadok remained in Lithuania.

Yitzchak: Emigrated to Cleveland, Ohi0.  Anglecized name to Albert TENER. Yitzchak m. Chava (Eva) nee Seten. Their children were Philip and Eugene. Albert (Yitzchak) was a bomber and war hero of WWII.  He died in 1969.

Rochal: Emigrated to Cleveland, Ohio (re: Ari) Anglecized name to Ethel. Married Frank Schean (Schone?) (Oct. 15, 1922). No further information available at this time.

Feiga: Came to America (to Mexico?). No further information available at this time. (Rae Kerbel of San Francisco? 1897-1978?)

Meir Leib owned real estate in 1911. He was drafted in 1914. No further info available.

Genekh was an accountant. Genekh m. Ginda Leia Levit (b. Jan. 20, 1899 in Ponevezys, daughter of Shmuel Levit and Rokhal (nee Sheveliovich) in Ponevezys on Dec. 20, 1926 (15 Tevet 5687).  Genekh emigrated to Mexico but later returned to Lithuania, and to Skuodas, where he was living in 1940, when he was murdered in the Shoah.

Boruch ("Codikas") died of consumption (Tuberculosis), in Raseiniai, on July 21, 1928.

Yaakov m. Hiena. He was a locksmith. They had a daughter Sara b. 1932. They lived on Maironio St., 63, in Raseinai. They emigrated to Israel in 1934. Please contact us if you have any additional information.Yaakov (Jakobo) Tanur

Immigration records show SCHIER TANUR, from Kaunas, departing Hamburg on April 20, 1912, heading to Montevideo. (This ship also ports at Rio and Buenos Aires.). Was this Schave? Or Shalom?

ADOLF ben ?

ADOLF Tanur, b. appx. 1889 (in Russia/Lithuania. He emigrated to Buenos Aires.  Adolf m. Ruth Camhi, who died young, at the age of 34. Adolf then emigrated from Buenos Aires to New York on June 25, 1923, at the age of 34, where he worked as a tailor) with a cousin?) and then had a pharmacy with his two sons, Ariel and Nathan.  (I'm currently working on getting more geneological information about Adolf.) His brothers (?) moved to North Carolina. Adolf's children:
