This excerpt from a student's essay contains errors with 2nd conditional.  First read the paragraph so you understand what the writer is saying. Then edit for correctness.

(1)  The question is, "What standards of behavior would I set if I were a kindergarten teacher?"

(2)  When I was young and in my native country, China, our kindergarten teacher used to bring a stick with her to class and if any student did something wrong, she could - and would - hit him with the stick.  (3)  It was a very bad experience and a very bad way of teaching us.  (4)  I like to ask myself what I would do differently, if I had the opportunity to.

(5)  If I am a kindergarten teacher, I'll try to use a different way to each young students.  (6)  First of all, I'm going to have them listen to what I want to teach them.  (7)  Then I am going to ask them questions and have them answer these questions.  (8)  Finally, I am going to ask them what they like and dislike about what I have taught them.  (9)  I am going to clear up the points of misunderstanding easily without confusing them.  (11)  I help them to speak for themselves and start forming their own personalities.
