Can you see the differences between a direct and an indirect speech sentence? Learn to distinguish quoted from reported speech.  Next to each sentence write quoted or indirect, according to what type of speech it reflects.

1.  His mother told him to study hard in school.              __________

2.  Juan said, "I know that I shouldn't be doing this."      __________

3.  They asked him to take them home.                         __________

4.  They asked, "Will you take us home?"                        __________

5.  We wontered if it would always be this cold.              __________
